The mission of West Orange Montessori School is to provide a quality preschool through kindergarten and first grade education for children ages two and a half to six, inspiring in each child a passion for lifelong learning.

West Orange Montessori School is not a day-care or play school. Rather, our Primary Program (2½ - 6 yr.) is a unique cycle of learning designed to take advantage of a child’s sensitive years, when he can absorb information from an enriched environment.

Our comprehensive program of learning is purposefully structured and appealing to young children. Our school building is a beautiful, historic home, carefully converted into an enriched and thoughtfully prepared learning environment.

A child who acquires the basic skills of reading and arithmetic in this natural Montessori way has the advantage of beginning his education without drudgery, boredom, or discouragement. By pursuing his individual interest in a Montessori classroom, he gains an early enthusiasm for learning, which is the key to his becoming a truly educated person.
